Mighty K9 Serving Size by Weight: What the Label Says and What the Calories Mean

Quick answer

The Mighty K9 label lists one serving as 2 mL for every dog, with no weight-based amount. The brand's calculator shows five weight bands but displayed no amount for any of them when we checked. Each serving adds 16.2 calories: about 7% of a 6 lb dog's day and about 1% of a 70 lb dog's. Ask your vet about small dogs.

The label

How much Mighty K9 should I give my dog by weight?

The label lists one serving as 2 mL for every dog, whatever its size. There is no published chart that changes the amount by weight, and we will not make one up.

The Guaranteed Analysis gives 2 mL per serving and 30 servings per bottle. The brand's online serving calculator counts one full dropper as 1 mL and asks you to pick a weight band. When we checked on October 11, 2026, it showed no amount for any band.

Small11-25 lbNot published2 mL
Medium26-50 lbNot published2 mL
Large51-90 lbNot published2 mL
XL91 lb and upNot published2 mL

So what changes with size is not the serving. It is how big a share of the day's food that serving becomes. For a small dog, your vet decides whether the full 2 mL fits. Daily steps are on the how to use page.

By size

How many calories does Mighty K9 add for each size of dog?

Same 16.2 kcal in every bowl. Very different weight in each dog's day.

What one 2 mL serving (16.2 kcal) means for dogs of different sizes. Weight bands are the ones on the brand's serving calculator; calorie needs are estimates for a neutered adult (70 x kg0.75 x 1.6, AAHA) and the 10% treat budget comes from WSAVA. The calculator page did not publish an amount per band when we checked.
Size bandExample dogDaily calories10% treat budgetServing as % of dayServing as % of treat budget
XS (2-10 lb)6 lbabout 237 kcalabout 24 kcal6.8%68%
Small (11-25 lb)18 lbabout 541 kcalabout 54 kcal3.0%30%

XL (91 lb and up)100 lbabout 1,958 kcalabout 196 kcal0.8%8%

Read the last column first. For an XS dog, one serving uses most of a day's treat allowance. For a large dog, it barely registers. The 16.2 kcal figure is printed on the label and matches the energy in 2 mL of olive oil, as the Guaranteed Analysis page shows.

Estimate only: resting energy = 70 x (weight in kg)0.75, times the life-stage factor (AAHA, Energy needs). Extras and treats should stay under 10% of daily calories (WSAVA, Treats). Your vet can give your dog's real number.

The formula behind it

Vets start from resting energy needs, called RER. The American Animal Hospital Association gives it as 70 x body weight in kg to the 0.75 power (AAHA, Energy needs). A neutered adult needs about 1.4 to 1.6 times that. Inactive or weight-prone dogs need about 1.0 to 1.2 times.

Worked example: a 44 lb dog weighs 20 kg. Its RER is about 662 kcal. As a neutered adult, it needs roughly 1,060 kcal a day. One serving is about 1.5% of that. Your vet may adjust it.

The 10% rule

What is the 10% treat rule, and does Mighty K9 count?

Yes, count it. The World Small Animal Veterinary Association says treats and extras should stay under 10% of daily calories (WSAVA, Treats). An oil topper is an extra.

10% of daily calories, max for extras
47kcal treat budget, 10 kg dog
79kcal treat budget, 20 kg dog
108kcal treat budget, 30 kg dog
16.2kcal in one 2 mL serving

Treat budgets are WSAVA's examples. The calculator above uses AAHA factors, so its numbers run a little different.

Weight

Should overweight dogs take Mighty K9?

Overweight dogs can, but only if the calories are taken out somewhere else. Ask your vet first if your dog is on a weight-loss plan.

Extra weight is common. Vet teams rated 59% of dogs overweight or obese in a 2022 survey by the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention (APOP, 2022 survey). For dogs with stiff joints, a slender body weight is the most important part of care (ACVS, Osteoarthritis).

The long-term evidence is striking. In an industry-run study of 48 Labradors, dogs fed 25% less lived a median 13 years instead of 11.2 and showed problems such as impaired gait later (Purina, Life Span Study). More ideas are in our post on weight and exercise for older dogs.

Make room

How do you trim food to make room for Mighty K9?

Take out about 16 calories of food or treats for each serving you add. The simplest way is to shave a little off the main meal.

  1. Find the kcal on the bag

Every dog food lists calories per cup or per can. Note that number.

  2. Divide by 16.2

Example: if your kibble has 350 kcal per cup, one serving equals about 1/20 of a cup, roughly 2 teaspoons.

  3. Weigh, do not guess

A kitchen scale beats a scoop. Small errors add up over a month.

Breaking one treat in half often works too. Use the number on your own dog's food.

Small dogs

Is the 2 mL Mighty K9 serving too much for a small dog?

It can be a big share of a tiny dog's day, which is why the vet should decide. A 6 lb neutered adult needs roughly 237 kcal a day, so one serving is close to 7% of all its calories.

That serving also uses about two thirds of the treat allowance. Add dental chews and the total can pass 10% fast.

Vet visit

What should you ask your vet about Mighty K9 serving size?

Bring the bottle or a photo of the label so your vet can see the 2 mL serving and 16.2 kcal. Then ask:

  1. What is my dog's ideal weight, and how many calories a day should it eat?
  2. Does the full 2 mL fit, or should I give it less often?
  3. What should I cut to make room for the extra calories?
  4. Is added fat safe given my dog's history and diet?
  5. Does it clash with any medicine my dog takes?
Fat history matters

Each serving is pure oil. Dogs that have had pancreatitis, or that eat a low-fat diet, need a vet's okay first (Merck Vet Manual, Pancreatitis).

FAQ

Mighty K9 serving size: common questions

How much Mighty K9 for a small dog?

The label lists 2 mL per serving for every dog and gives no smaller amount. For a 10 lb dog, that is about 5% of daily calories. The brand's calculator offers an XS band for 2-10 lb dogs but showed no amount, so ask your vet what fits.

How much Mighty K9 for a large dog?

The label serving is the same 2 mL, two full droppers, for large dogs too. For a 70 lb dog, the 16.2 calories are only about 1% of a typical day. No higher amount for big dogs is published, so do not increase the serving on your own.

Should I count Mighty K9 as a treat?

Yes. Each 2 mL serving adds 16.2 calories, printed on the label, all from olive oil. That is a treat-sized amount, so count it inside the 10% of daily calories that vets suggest for treats and extras.

Is there a Mighty K9 dosage chart by weight?

No published chart exists. The brand's online calculator lists five weight bands, from XS (2-10 lb) to XL (91 lb and up), but it showed no amount for any band when we checked on October 11, 2026. The label lists 2 mL per serving.

Can I give my dog more Mighty K9 for faster results?

No. The label lists one 2 mL serving and the sales page says once daily. No study shows a bigger amount works faster, and extra oil only adds fat and calories. Stick to the label, and ask your vet about any change.

Is Mighty K9 safe for dogs on a diet?

It can fit, as long as you remove about 16 calories of food or treats per serving. Dogs on a vet weight-loss plan should get the vet's okay first, since every extra counts and the oil is pure fat.
